He first delved into jazz-rock with a 1974 album called "Four String Tschaba" on MPS, which is pretty good, if maybe a touch dry and "serious" (it can be found over at Never Enough Rhodes). This one ups the entertainment factor considerably, however. The first side features some absolutely stomping funky fusion, prominently featuring Deseo's viola and violin soloing (which is sometimes fuzzed-out and electronically treated, to extremely cool effect) and lots of superb electric piano. The best description I can come up with would be Michal Urbaniak and Emil Viklicky jamming with the Headhunters. Side 2 is more jazzy, and features an interesting extended suite. Definitely deserves to be more well-known!
