801 played three concerts before disbanding, and the last one was recorded for release as an LP (this one).The music is kind of sui generis- sort of art-prog-jazz-space rock, almost Canterbury-ish, but more sober and contemplative (and more concise) than most Canterbury scene material, with odd flashes of pop, garage, and Latin rock. It's dark and pulsating and funky, and even the gentler moments are moody.
