Crypto were active for about two years and released only one album just before their disbanding, ''Crypto'' (1975, Pandora-Negram), containing hints of atmospheric Jazz Rock, slightly Latin Fusion and touches of Funk and Prog Rock.The arrangements were centered around the talents of keyboardist Peter Schön and guitarist Bert Devies and come as a nice example of balanced instrumental music with flawless drumming and bass parts, led by electric piano and unusual synth moves with Devies delivering a very Jan Akkerman-like style of playing.Stellar instrumental fusion effort with powerful guitar solos, highly innovative use of synths. Crypto's music could be even described as melodic at moments, but the best parts come from the unexpected twists, the great guitar solos and the technical interplays, which still sound human and far from self-indulgent.Schön later played for a brief period with Scope, before reuniting with Van Der Hoop in Pumpkin.He was also a member of Nina Hagen's band along with Crypto's bassist Wim Dijkgraaf.
