Syrius was a Hungarian group, and Broken Dreams was their second album. They were obviously hoping to reach out to both the East and West during the Cold War as the writing on the original LP back cover is in three languages, Hungarian, English and Russian. On Broken Dreams it seems like the group was trying to stretch out their sound with some Pop, Rock, Fusion and Progressive influences. That didn't quite work on cuts such as Song At Dawn that starts off with a long bass drum and hi hat break before going into a bad Pop tune. The one song where the band is able to put everything together is I'm Stretching Out My Arms that begins with a long drum and percussion break before turning into a nice Soul-Jazz-Fusion jam. It sort of reminds me of Tower Of Power. The break makes a return towards the end as well. That Was Nice sounds very similar.
