So much mystery and legend surround the lady born Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chávarri del Castillo, but better known as Yma Sumac (although unverified rumours circulated in the 50's that her real name was Amy Camus, i.e. her stage name spelled backwards) that it's difficult to unravel the truth from all the tall tales. Her final studio release proves quite interesting.A singing phenomenon from the 50s, Yma Sumac came back in the early 70s with this album, still under the tutelage of Les Baxter, but this time accompanied by a rock combo (guitar, bass, organ, drums). She vocalizes without words, and the result is at least as good as her earlier albums."Miracles" also proved to tbe Sumac's final studio album. Suffering from colon cancer, she died in a Los Angeles assisted living facility in November, 2008.
