AYERS, KEVIN | BANANAMOUR (2003 REMASTER W/4 BONUS TRACKS. Kevin Ayers is a native of Kent where he was born on 16th August 1944 although he spent part of his important formative years in Malaysia where his father was a District Officer. Back in England in his youth he integrated into the local Bohemians who were into art poetry and avant-garde jazz. He was a member of The Wilde Flowers in 1963 but left them in 1965 to travel to Ibiza with Daevid Allen. He returned in 1966 to help form The Soft Machine and was extremely influential in their early years but left at the end of 1968 after the release of the band's debut album exhausted from the continual travelling. He again headed for the then tranquil island of Ibiza. Ayers' remains a largely under-rated talent who has never enjoyed commercial success commensurate with his undoubted abilities.)
