PROFESSOR LONGHAIR | ROCKIN' WITH FESS (Often credited as the father of New Orleans Rhythm & Blues, Professor Longhair is considered one of the most characteristic piano talents to come out of Louisiana. His hybrid "rumba-boogie" piano style, with a heavy, pounding left hand, forever changed the sound of rhythm and blues piano. In the words of Dr. John himself: "All New Orleans pianists today owe Fess. He was the guru, godfather, and spiritual doctor of all that came under him". Rockin' With Fess gathers most of his standards and classics (originally issued on singles for labels such as Atlantic, Mercury and Federal) including 'Tipitina', 'Baby Let Me Hold Your Hand', 'Mardi Gras In New Orleans' and more gems of New Orleans popular culture.)
