T. REX (MARC BOLAN) | GREATEST HITS:1972-77 A-SIDES (It was in October 1970, after Tony Visconti, his producer, shifted the label outlet for his productions from Regal Zonophone to Fly, that Visconti also persuaded Marc Bolan to abbreviate Tyrannosaurus Rex's name to T Rex. Following the Autumn 1970 Bolan had also decided to augment the duo into a four-piece to give it a fuller sound. So in December 1970 he recruited bassist Steve Currie and drummer Bill Legend (whose real name was Fifield, although Bolan knew him as Legend because he was recruited from the Mickey Jupp band of the same name )
